Since the index data of the L2 cache may be corrupted or cannot be updated during an ungraceful shutdown, even if the deferred write-data is still stored in the L2 cache, it cannot be recovered safely and reliably. So whether you use L1 cache or L2 cache, the level of risk when Defer-Write is enabled is the same.
