No, it is not necessary to run the PrimoCache application. Cache tasks work at the Windows kernel level and automatically start with Windows boots. The PrimoCache GUI and CLI applications provide the user interface to create, delete or manage cache tasks. But they are not needed for caching work after you create cache tasks. Caching applies to the whole Windows system and remains running in the background, no matter whether you login and no matter whether the GUI/CLI application runs.
